ORTHODOX DIAGNOSTIC TECHNIQUES

Skin Prisk Test : the skin is pricked with small amounts of suspect allergens; a positive reaction causes itchyness, redness and swelling. The disadvantages are that only a small number of substances can be tested, there are often false positives, and the test cannot be used on patients with severe eczema and on steroids.

Blood Test : the amount of IgE antibody is measured in the blood after contact with a possible allergen; the test uses a scale from 0-6, with a result of 5 or 6 suggesting a high sensitivity. Again it is impossible to test large numbers of suspect substances.

Patch Test : this is used in patients with skin rashes; small discs with various possible allergens are taped to the skin and reactions over the area are monitered 48 hours later.

The Vega Test.
The vega testing equipment is a computer generated diagnostic system devised by German medical doctors over the last 50 years or so. It monitors the very subtle reactions by the body to outside substances. The system has been much abused over the years, and few operators have either the correct background or basic ability to perform objective testing.
We have been using the Vega Test for nearly 30 years, and obtain very accurate and reproduceable data. Unlike orthodox testing procedure, we are able to test literally 100s of substances quickly and effectively, giving a more accurate picture of each a patient’s individual health geography.
The test is performed by gently placing a probe on the surface of a finger, and taking readings on the computer, while clicking from substance to substance.
Allergies are considered to have a possible genetic (hereditary) connection. This, of course is quite possible, but often this only means that an individual is more predisposed to over-react to substances. The Vega test often allows us to delve into the subtle machinations inside the body to find malfuctions which in turn cause allergic reactions. Therefore, we often treat underlying faulty physiology as well as locating specific allergens.
